As a senior member of the staff, Rich supports business development for Marstel-Day, and brings more than 43 years of DOD and government industry experience to the role. Before joining Marstel-Day, he served as director of business development at The Columbia Group (TCG) supporting the Marine Corps Programs Division and later for all six TCG divisions, where he developed capture strategy for corporate targets, created a robust opportunity pipeline and lead proposals to the Marine Corps, Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Military Sealift Command and US Coast Guard. Prior to his time at TCG, Rich was a Shipley Associates business development consultant and Vice President for Business Development for Federal Management Systems (FMS) leading capture and proposal efforts to the US Department of State and Department of Homeland Security. He was also VP Mid-Atlantic Operations for Bastion Technologies (BT), where he oversaw three services contracts: IT services for NASA Headquarters and Safety and Mission Assurance at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). At GSFC his team oversaw the system and mission safety of the astronauts for the Hubble Space Telescope Servicing Mission. Both FMS and BT are graduated-8a small businesses. In addition he led business development at Radian, Inc., which was a small engineering business and currently part of multi-national defense contractor Leonardo S.p.A, where his team was responsible for achieving 25% percent growth over a five-year period. It including winning key new contracts in power systems integration, production and engineering services with the Air Force valued at more than $400M in total contract value. Rich’s career also includes 10 years as a civil servant within the US Army Program Manager for Mobile Electric Power and US Army Material Command as a reliability and maintainability engineer.
