Mr. Robert Fix is a Defense Analyst with Marstel-Day. He serves with the Institute for Security Governance as the lead Country Program Coordinator for Kazakhstan while also contributing to both the Moldova and Kosovo Teams. Mr. Fix focuses on the integration of Strategic Planning, Operational Planning, Human Resource Management and Training Management. He is experienced in the Interagency, the Department of Defense and in the area of Security Cooperation gained from multiple tours in the Middle East, Southwest Asia, and the Pacific.
Mr. Fix, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, brings 40 years of experience as an infantry officer and strategic planner. At the tactical level, Mr. Fix has commanded infantry and air assault units at the company, battalion and brigade levels.
At the strategic level, Mr. Fix served on the Joint Staff J5 as the Chief of the Coalition Division responsible for building the international coalition for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as the Assistant Deputy Director, for Europe, Russia, NATO and Africa. Operational assignments have included Command of Brigade Task Force Sinai in Egypt, Chief of Staff of the Iraq Assistance Group in Baghdad, and Director of Stability Operations, Regional Command East, Afghanistan.
For nearly five years, Mr. Fix directed the Army Campaign Plan, which integrated and synchronized all Department of the Army transformation initiatives and operational requirements world-wide. His education includes a B.S. from the United States Military Academy and two Masters of Military Art and Science degrees focused on: Operations, Plans and Training and Theater Operations. He also earned a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Air Force War College.
