Marstel-Day, LLC today announced that it has been awarded the HUBZone “Corporate Citizen of the Year” award by the HUBZone Contractors National Council. The Council’s award recognizes a HUBZone-certified company that has “…made significant contributions to improve the economic, educational, and/or social quality of its community.”
The HUBZone, or Historically Underutilized Business Zone Empowerment Contracting Program is administered by the Small Business Administration and is aimed at promoting economic development in areas of low income and high unemployment.
At the same time, the HUBZone program is also very compatible with the types of green, natural resource consulting programs that the company provides to public and private sector clients. According to Marstel-Day President and CEO Rebecca R. Rubin, “What you are seeing is some of the more traditional economic sectors phasing out, and a newer, greener, economy phasing in. We are so proud to be recognized by the HUBZone National Contractors Council for our accomplishments in helping to contribute economically, socially and educationally to the green economy in this historically significant region of the country.”
The HUBZone National Council is a non-profit, non-partisan trade association providing information and support for companies and professionals interested in the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program
The award ceremony will take place during the National HUBZone conference from September 5-7 in Washington, DC.
