Mr. Zimmerman currently supports the Air Force as a Community Planning Liaison focused on mission sustainment and community partnership development. He managed Air Force water availability and sustainability projects at Altus AFB, OK; Beale AFB, CA; Mountain Home AFB, ID; Sheppard AFB, TX: and led the Vandenberg AFB (now SFB) water project. In addition, he provided Senior Analyst support for Marstel-Day’s Air Force Installation Complex Encroachment Management Action Plan (ICEMAP) clients at Offutt Air Force Base (AFB), NB; Ellsworth AFB, SD; and JB Charleston, SC.; and for the Air Force Community Partnership (AFCP) Programs at Scott AFB, IL; Robbins AFB, GA; and Ellsworth AFG, SD. He supported the Army Community Partnership (ACP) Program at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) in Texas and Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico.

Mr. Zimmerman actively engages in the development of new programs for the company designed to enhance environmental conservation, community partnerships, and business development with clients such as DOD and international organizations. He also serves as an aviation operations subject matter expert for all projects involving use of airspace, air traffic control, and aircraft technologies. Mr. Zimmerman supports the company’s business development efforts providing proposal leadership and development, technical editing, document coordination, and production within the company’s proposal development team.

Prior to joining Marstel-Day, Mr. Zimmerman owned and operated a small consulting firm that produced the initial Energy Management in the Military Expeditionary Environment study for the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. He created a proposed way ahead to implement the International Standards Organization’s (ISO) 50001: 2011 Energy Management System standard for deployed multi-national military commands to reduce energy usage, reduce energy related costs, and reduce the number of armed energy supply routes to forward operating bases. He was also involved in NATO’s experimentation program of work and developed mid-term development plans for NATO communication systems.

Before retiring as a US Naval Officer, he flew helicopters both in peacetime and combat earning a combat strike flight air medal during Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery in the Air for a daring at-sea rescue while on exchange with the Royal Navy in England. He completed back-to-back staff tours as a staff officer with US Naval Forces in Europe (stationed in London) and as a senior staff officer with the Royal Navy leading 17 multi-national communications projects, NATO working group panels, and experimentation teams.

Mr. Zimmerman has a BS in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has completed all coursework for his Doctorate of Organizational Management and Leadership and completion of his dissertation remains underway. He holds a PRojects IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE2) program and project management certification.
