Robert G. Fix

Mr. Robert G. Fix is a Senior Defense Research Analyst with Marstel-Day and in this capacity supports the Institute for Security Governance (ISG). Mr. Fix's areas of expertise include Institutional Transformation, Strategic Planning, Operational Planning, Force Design and Training Management. He is experienced in the Interagency, the Department of Defense and in the area of Security Cooperation gained from multiple tours in the Middle East, Southwest Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific.

Mr. Fix, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, brings thirty plus years of experience as an infantry officer and strategic planner. At the tactical level, Mr. Fix has commanded infantry and air assault units at the company, battalion and brigade levels while also serving as an observer controller with the Battle Command Training Program and as the Chief of Tactics at the U.S. Army Infantry School.

At the strategic level, Mr. Fix served on the Joint Staff J5 as the Chief of the Coalition Division responsible for building the international coalition for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as the Assistant Deputy Director, for Europe, Russia, NATO and Africa. Operational assignments have included Command of Brigade Task Force Sinai in Egypt, Chief of Staff of the Iraq Assistance Group in Baghdad, and Director of Stability Operations, Regional Command East, Afghanistan. Culminating his career, Mr. Fix directed the Army Campaign Plan for nearly five years, which integrated and synchronized all Department of the Army Transformation initiatives and operational requirements world-wide.

His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and two Masters of Military Art and Science degrees (MMAS). His first MMAS from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, focused on Operations, Plans and Training. He earned his second MMAS while attending the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) where his studies focused on Theater-Level Operations. Mr. Fix also earned a third Masters degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Air Force War College at the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. His awards include the U.S. Army Distinguished Service Medal and the Meritorious Honor Award presented by Ambassador Eikenberry, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan.
