Ms. Hammack is a Senior Architectural Historian with over a decade of experience working in the fields of architectural history and historic preservation. At Marstel- Day she assists with conducting surveys and research for a variety of federal, state, and local agencies undertaken in accordance with Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Ms. Hammack has extensive experience in implementing historic preservation regulations. Prior to working with Marstel-Day she was a Preservationist Specialist with the Washington D.C. Office of Planning/Historic Preservation Office. While working for the city of D.C. Ms. Hammack was responsible for evaluating permit applications for rehabilitation, alteration and new construction projects in compliance with local preservation laws, guidelines and practices. She was the primary preservationist responsible for projects located within the Capitol Hill, Takoma Park, and Foxhall Village Historic Districts. In addition, Ms. Hammack spent almost a decade working at the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. As a Senior Landmarks Preservationist, she regulated alterations to properties located in over one hundred historic districts throughout the city’s five boroughs. Ms. Hammack has considerable experience presenting at public hearings and working with a range of civic leaders, governmental agencies, community groups and design professionals. She has also worked to write preservation design-guidelines for designated historic districts.

Ms. Hammack earned a BS in Architectural History from the University of Virginia, where she was awarded the Frederick Doveton Nichols Award in recognition of outstanding academic achievement. She graduated with a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
